As promised, here is my post about keeping things organized in the studio. It’s no secret that I have a LOT of stuff. In the studio alone I have almost more than I can handle. I’m not the most organized person, but running a small business has made me try a little much harder to stay on top of things. I have shelves, bookcases, cabinets, and now a fancy new dresser to store all of my treasures. Some of these things came from my childhood, art school, hobbies, and now from my business. So how do I do it? Well, I’ll show you =)
Since my dresser reveal, I have had to unfortunately cover the top of it with my printers. Above them I have cubbies, and on the side I have an organizer for some of my paper. It’s not as sturdy as I’d hoped it would be, but I use it for paper that I use occasionally. Next to it is a large cabinet for storing more paper, envelopes, cameras, tripod, corner rounding machine, and perforating machine. I have another similar cabinet on the other side of the room too.
The dresser has turned out to be the most functional piece of furniture in the room. Not only is it sturdy enough to hold my three massive printers, but it also holds a lot of stuff in the drawers. The top three drawers store the paper that I use the most, and the lip of the drawers have little labels so I can keep track of what type of paper it is. The baskets in the lower drawers are the key to keeping things from sliding all around and making messes. I’m sure you’ve seen them in every dollar store across the country. $1 for a little extra sanity= great deal!
I also have a metal bookcase with more bins and boxes. Here I store more envelopes, craft supplies, invitation samples, and colored cardstock. I picked the large clear bins for the bottom shelves so I can see what I’m looking for, without having to dig through all six of them. The smaller purple photo boxes store smaller things, like glitter and craft punches.
Believe it or not, this is only half of the studio!
How do you keep your things organized for your business or personal space? I know that trying to keep Dax’s room organized is a whole different story….haha.

Ha! Organization! What organization?!? Here’s how I do it: http://www.souptowindows.com/?p=581
Not exactly pretty, right?!? *sigh* I can’t say it looks much better than this right now. I need to learn how to put things back where I got them. My mom tried to teach me that for a lot of years and I just haven’t caught on!!!
Well, look at you Little Miss Fancy Pants. I just looked at the top of my desk and sneered my nose at it. I need cubbies.
Ok, this may be the push I needed to tackle my ribbon/thread/stuff-I-didn’t-feel-like-putting-away drawer. I can’t even pull out a pair of scissors without Christmas ribbon and pom-pom fringe attacking me. This looks so beautiful. What an inspiring place to work in!
Kelly, you can do it! My ribbon was the same way, and it drove me nuts! I also thought about buying one of those ribbon organizers, but I just had too many rolls to deal with =P
Em, you can the cubbies at Target!
Definitely well organised! I wish I had a little space of my own and keep organised!
What a great organized studio! I love it. Can’t wait to use some of these tips when I have my own creative space
Thanks so much Cathy!
